Who is Julie Chiou?

Present

I'm a self-motivated 22-year old who is graduating from James Madison University in May 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Media Arts and Design and a minor in Computer Information Systems. I hope to land my dream job in web design and development in either California or Virginia/Washington D.C. I'm an extremely hard-worker and very dedicated to everything I do. I love learning new things because it will only enhance my knowledge and it is invigorating. Nothing is out of reach for me. When I have my heart set on something, I will do whatever it takes to get it.

Past

I have always had an interest in web design and development. My interests in this field peaked in middle school when curiosity led to me playing around on the Internet and finding tutorials to create my own website. I self-taught myself HTML, CSS and some basic Web site programming by reading online forums and tutorials. Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dreamweaver were all self-taught too.That lead to designing my own layouts and coding them. I believe one learn best through experience, trial and error, and self-teachings. This, I believe, will only enhance one's skills and something that one will keep with them for a lifetime. I'm a firm believer in this because I didn't get to where I am today without obstacles and without the skills that I've picked up along the way.

Future

I'm open to anything. Where ever the road takes me, I'm there. I hope I get to live my dreams and pursue the career I have been dreaming of.
